Boy and Girl Twin Grandchildren

Updated on March 19, 2018

Announcing the Twins!

Wow, Twins!

We remember when our son and daughter-in-law shared the news of the twins and we both were just beaming. They have been really great to send us reports and pictures from each doctor's visit. Of course, I have to admit that I have trouble really seeing the babies in the photos but hopefully the further along she gets, the easier they will be to see.

I know young parents have their own ideas about the things they want and need. I know I did when we were young and expecting but I really wanted to give them just a little something. They are getting ready to move and I knew the last thing they needed was something else to move so at this time I just needed to send something small and I wanted it to be something fun.

I didn't want to bombard them with gifts they didn't want or couldn't use or didn't have room for so I tried my best to hold off but just had to do something. I was doing fine until I saw these precious Onesies (also called baby bodysuits) for Boy and Girl Twins with each blaming the other. I just had to get them and I think they were pleased with my first purchase. I sure hope so. Now, if I can restrain from making any further purchases without asking first.

Aren't these precious? I sure think so. One pink and one blue blaming each other for whatever just happened. So cute. I just couldn't resist these. Someone said that I better go ahead and order them in every size and I think that is a super idea, don't you? I imagine the day will come when the twins will have their own idea of what they want to wear and these onesies will probably not be one of their choices. I have had fun giving these precious onesies as gifts to new boy/girl twins. I hope they enjoy them as much as I did giving them. If they just get one cute photo op out of them, it will be worth it. Don't you think? One of these days I am going to think of something clever like this. Sure wish that I had thought of this. Such fun!

We Love Being Grandparents!

Our daughter's son has been our only grandchild for almost 15 years and we have thoroughly enjoyed being grandparents. We do get to see him almost daily and if we don't see him, we talk to him on the phone. He is such a joy to have around and has been a real blessing. He gets his license soon so we will have a lot of changes in our family.

What does he think of the twins? He is excited but keeps reminding us that we won't see them everyday like we have him. He will be a wonderful cousin for them and we are looking forward to making many memories together.

Oh, It Will Be Such Fun!

I get so excited thinking about these twins and imagining what it will be like when they get here. Of course, we plan to take a trip so we can see them and I hope we will be of some help. Our grandson is planning on helping our daughter with the driving so that will be an adventure, too.

My husband is especially good with babies. I remember taking a "Creative Parenting" class when our son was a baby and was always surprised to find that my husband was already doing everything the class suggested. He just naturally knows what to do. He really enjoys little ones especially when he can claim them. This will be such fun having two at a time.

My thing has always been to Rock and Read. I am a firm believer in reading to an infant from Day One. I am already picking out the first books that I want to read to these two and will share them with you soon. I think they will be using two of the rockers we have here. One, in particular, has seen a lot of rocking over the years. It is my mom's old Duncan Phyfe Rocker that I was rocked in as a baby and rocked our son and our grandson in it. I remember sitting in my mom's lap while she rocked my baby brother. I guess my older sisters were rocked in it, too. It has been awhile since we have had a baby in the family and now we will be getting two! I sure hope I get a lot of Rocking and Reading time. I feel sure I will. We are counting down the days and weeks and months! They even gave me a little counter to keep up with how many weeks are left until her due date in December, 2014.

What Else Should I Buy for My Boy and Girl Twin Grandchildren?

I have seen many things that I want to purchase for the twin grandchildren but like I said, I need to be careful and I want to make sure their parents want the item first. I must remember to always get their approval before purchasing. Also, with two to buy for I won't be able to buy everything I see that I want so it will be very cautious shopping, for sure. It will be though and I am looking forward to finding some really unique items like these onesies. I will continue to try to buy Made In The USA items when I can find them because I do feel that is very important.

My Rules For Shopping For The Twins

  1. Parents Must Approve First
  2. Buy Two of Whatever I Purchase
  3. Try to Buy Made In The USA
  4. No More Than One Surprise A Month
  5. Stay On My Budget

My rule #2 may seem silly but I know it is important that they each get their own surprise even at an early age. If I want to buy a book, I need to make sure I buy two books and put one name in one and one in the other. I was the youngest of three girls and remember people giving us gifts together like paper dolls. Well, being the youngest, I didn't get much playing time with them and remember it being a problem.
